Four reasons to choose Cold Jet via ColdBlast
Cold Jet is one of the most established dry ice blasting manufacturers worldwide, with more than 250 patents in the field. ColdBlast is their official representative in the Netherlands. That gives you direct brand warranty, original parts and factory-trained engineers.
Efficiency
Cold Jet machines feature patented dose-control for constant blasting pressure. Operators perform better without wear-related drop-offs in performance.
Environmentally clean
Reuses CO₂ from industrial by-products. Zero net CO₂ emissions, no chemicals, no water, no secondary waste.
Surface integrity
Non-abrasive and non-conductive. Safe for coatings, electronics, bearings, stainless steel and aluminium. Removes contamination without attacking the material.
Fully dry
No moisture in bearings, motors or electronics. No drying time after cleaning. Equipment is back in service immediately.
Cleaning where conventional methods fall short
Manual scrubbing, sandblasting and chemical cleaning each have their limits. Manual work takes hours per machine and handles hard-to-reach spots poorly. Sandblasting damages surfaces and leaves residue. Chemical cleaning means safety protocols, drying time and risk to electronics.
Dry ice blasting sublimates on impact. Solid CO₂ pellets convert directly into gas, leaving only the dislodged contamination behind. No disassembly, no residue, no moisture. Production can often keep running during cleaning.
View the machinesDry ice blasting in four steps
Dry ice blasting works on a combination of kinetic energy, thermal shock and gas expansion. No abrasive action, no chemistry, no water.
Acceleration with compressed air
Dry ice pellets are accelerated by compressed air through a blast gun. High velocity delivers enough impact force to hit the contamination without damaging the surface.
Thermal shock through extreme cold
At minus 79 degrees Celsius, the contamination contracts faster than the underlying material. Microscopic cracks form in the deposit. The bond to the surface weakens.
Micro-explosion and release
The dry ice sublimates instantly on impact. Gas expansion creates small micro-explosions beneath the contamination. The deposit lifts off the surface.
No additional waste
The CO₂ gas dissipates fully. Only the dislodged contamination remains, ready to be vacuumed or swept away. No blast medium to dispose of.
When dry ice blasting is the right choice
Dry ice cleaning works best on hard surfaces with adhering contamination that releases thermally. Adhesive residue, grease build-up, production residues, fire and soot damage, and mild corrosion are typical jobs. Suitable for moulds, conveyor belts, production lines, electrical installations and construction surfaces.
For light dust removal, an industrial vacuum is cheaper. For severe pitted rust on steel, sandblasting may be a better fit. ColdBlast gives honest advice on which technique suits your situation, even when that is not dry ice.
Schedule an on-site demoWhat dry ice blasting delivers
No disassembly needed
Cleans equipment in place. No hours of disassembly and reassembly. Production stays available.
Less wear
Dry ice is non-abrasive. Stainless steel, aluminium and coatings stay intact. You remove contamination, not material.
More production time
Dry process, no drying time. Machines are back in service immediately after cleaning. Often several hours saved per week.
No waste residue
CO₂ pellets sublimate on impact. Only the dislodged contamination remains. No blast media to clean up.
No water consumption
Fully dry cleaning process. Safe for electronics, bearings and sensitive components. No risk of rust formation.
Exceptional cleaning result
Reaches hard-to-access spots. Removes baked-on deposits where manual work stalls. Consistent results, not operator-dependent.
